14. Where are we in 2021?

It is a pleasure to share some news about the progress on the laboratory building in August 2021, exactly 6 years after our summer trip to Ibumu where we helped to build on the foundations that were there already... A reminder of what it looked like when we arrived in 2015.

The foundations upon our arrival in 2015

This is how far we got in the 2 weeks we were in Ibumu and where we left the building in August 2015.
Progress after the mission team's visit

In 2018 we received the good news that the building was up to ringbeam height. The villagers have all contributed further funds towards the completion of the building.

St Stephen's and St Leodegar's Churches raised some funds to help with the costs of the roof. The village opted to finish one classroom instead of the whole roof as they could put the building to use sooner that way. This is the laboratory building in the background, with 1 classroom nearly finished in 2019.

Students are standing in front of the classrooms that were already there. There laboratory building, with 1 classroom nearing completion, is in the back

A closer view

In June 2021 we received this photo update of the building. The second classroom also has been roofed.

Andy Sharpe is in Ibumu, together with Chris Parrott, to do the surveying required for the water project that is starting in Ibumu. They sent the latest photos of the building, where the last classroom is being completed!

Perhaps this is a more recognisable view of the building!

It is nice to do a comparison of the progress... from August 2015 to August 2021!
