13. A building taking shape

Andre VanWoerden and team visited Ibumu on 15 January 2019 and sent us photographs to show the progress on the laboratory building we helped to start building in 2015. It is so encouraging to see how the building is taking shape!

We (through my church, St Stephen's Church North Mundham) have raised over £1400 to help Ibumu finish the school laboratory! The village leadership have requested to use the money to finish one classroom at a time, in preparation for an influx of students next year. This would suit them better than putting the roof on the laboratory building. In these photographs you can see the progress!

The new building in the distance is the laboratory building!

A closer view of the outside of the first classroom, in the process of being finished.

The inside of the classroom...

The students gathered in their smart school uniforms!

They were accompanied by the teachers and headmistress.

The students sang a song in Swahili.

I remind myself why Ibumu wanted a secondary school built locally. The nearest school was 15km away, to be walked! Understandably there was a very high dropout rate and teenage pregnancy involved. It is so encouraging to see these young adults being given the opportunity of a secondary school education without having to overcome so many obstacles first.

Prayer request

Please pray for the continued development and growth of the school - the children, the teachers and the building that still needs to grow to accommodate the children.
